 ABC State Report Guidelines

Directions:

Each page will have a letter of the alphabet at the top.  You are to pick something about California that begins with that letter and write a paragraph about it.  Each page will also include a picture.  You can draw the picture, cut it from a magazine, or get it off the Internet.  Try to vary your pictures and make the report colorful and creative.  Please see the examples on the next few pages.  I have included a partial list of ideas for each letter.   For the letter X, you can use anything with an X in it!!  All the other letters must have part or all of the titles begin with that letter! Please note you are to tell me “facts” about California, not your “opinions.”  For example: B could stand for Bay and you could describe the San Francisco Bay.  B would NOT stand for Beautiful.  San Francisco Bay is a fact and Beautiful is your opinion!

Due Date:

 March 2010

Please DO NOT leave this until the last week.  This report will take  a LOT of time to complete, so plan accordingly!

Apple Hill

In 1964 the Apple Hill Growers Association started Apple Hill with just 16 ranchers.  The pear orchards were not producing, so they decided to try their hand at apples.  Their only competition was Washington State apples.  They decided to invite the press up to stay on their apple ranch and tell them all about their new venture. They also gave everyone at the State Fair a bag that they would fill with free apples if they came up for a visit!  Apple Hill began to grow and today there are over 45 ranchers who sell their apples, their apple juices and pies!
